Best Shrimp Po'Boy I've EVER had!! Fries are amazing as well...be sure to sprinkle on the Old Bay!!! Fantastic place for a quick bite on the Bethany Boardwalk!! Oh and their crab cakes are phenomenal!!!
(5)Steve L.
Simply the best. These fries need nothing but vinegar. DBs is in a great location to enjoy fries and the boardwalk.always hot and fresh.
(5)R M.
Really good fries, po'boys, and other seafood. Good quick jaunt from the beach for lunch.
(4)Matthew T.
Best fries i've ever had at the beach Usually get that extra large thing of fries Share them with friends
(5)Andrew S.
Best fried seafood and boardwalk fries around. I'm a big fan of the fried oysters and scallops so be sure to snag some up!
(4)Joyce L.
The BEST fried oysters and scallops I've ever had in LIFE. Incredibly fresh, never overcooked and not too heavily fried. Consistently amazing year after year.
(5)Sydney C.
The best fries on the DE beaches. This place is worth the wait and a must-try. While the fries may be the star of the show, the seafood is also out of this world. I got the crab cake platter which was so fresh and delishhhhh. Service is great. Don't forget to use the malt vinegar and old bay seasoning. Eat your heart out.
(5)Gary A.
Sinfully delicious- peanut oil and don't forget to ask to do your own salt. Take a sprinkle of vinegar and you're all set. Been coming here for years... -Enjoy!

DB is an old standby to my yearly trip to Bethany beach. The fries are simply excellent (as long as you load on the old bay and vinegar), and the variety in their menu is something to really look at. I'd suggest their seafood meals rather than fried chicken or other such things. But anything is really good.

If you don't get your fries at this joint in Bethany, you're WACK. The large is absurdly enormous so who cares about the price? Tried the Shrimp Po Boy Sammy today and it was loaded with tangy sauce, lettuce, tomatoes and plenty of fried, fresh shrimp. Definitely going back for more this vacation.
(5)Marcy M.
Really good fries! I like them with cajun seasoning. Also had some steamed shrimp-a little overcooked, but very fresh and tasted pretty good. My husband got the coconut shrimp-he said they were really good but also a tad overcooked. I give them 5 stars for their fries but 3 stars for their shrimp, so 4 stars overall seems adequate :) will definitely give them another try when we are in Bethany Beach again! I am dying to try their lobster roll.
(4)Matt W.
Best fries in BB. We get them every year. I tried their crab cake today for the first time, and it was better than the crab cake I got at a much more expensive restaurant. Highly recommend this place. We'll be back next year.
(5)Ben O.
Just the fries you want at the beach. The fries are good but the better part is the customer service is above and beyond.
(5)Ed K.
Excellent fries, you have to go here!! Best fries ever. Ask for a brown bag to put the bucket of fries in so you can shake the fries and salt up together
(5)Angela H.
Tried DB fries while in the area based on reviews, and it's the only place near the beach that has Ipswich clams. I'm guessing since it was a quiet Monday, maybe they didn't have their "A" staff working as the fries and clams were undercooked (yuck). Luckily my kids chicken tenders came out fine so we didn't all go hungry. Bummer, hopefully next time we will have a better experience because I have high hopes for the clams! Guessing the food is better on busy days/weekends etc.

This place is great. I ordered the scallop poboy and it was fantastic and their fries are great. Definitely going back!
(5)Chandra K.
This place is amazing. Fattest, freshest fried oysters. We went two days in a row. Very reasonable priced considering the location.
(5)Megan K.
Fries were fine and we also got chicken tenders which were as good as they were gonna get with a bunch of kids working the fryers. Had a shorter line than the other fry places on the boardwalk.
(3)Brett K.
Fries are very good! They have lots of options for toppings on the fries as well, which is nice. Also, I got the Lobster Roll and a crab cake sandwich. They both were very tasty, I was satisfied. If I were to choose again, I'd do the crab cake sandwich. The line is always long at DB's, but always worth it.

Delicious fried seafood right near Bethany Beach... what else could be better? While this place is known for their relatively thin, crunchy, nearly perfect fries (though be sure to dump a lot of Old Bay on them), they have a great assortment of other sea-y things on the menu. I got the fish and chips, which were 3 yummy pieces of fried cod. Bf had the clam strips...which were a little smaller than I've seen but still good (nice batter.. it wasn't too greasy). Another friend got the fish tacos which looked good. They have other favorites like flash fried oysters...even fried chicken for the land eaters. All in all, come here if you're looking for beachy, fried seafood. Service is prompt, and everything is made to order so you might have to wait a few minutes or so. There is no seating as it's a stand but there is plenty of seating on the boardwalk nearby. Averages $10-12 pp.
(4)David B.
if you are at the beach you have to get a bucket of DB Fries to share with everyone. Fries, salt water taffy, and fudge are beach traditions for me and these fries fit the bill perfectly.
(4)Karl B.
They make the best oyster sandwich on the face of the earth. Sprinkle on a little Old Bay and malt vinegar, find a seat at a table in the Town Center Mall, and enjoy. I had the sandwich one day and the Po'boy another. The difference is the roll with the po'boy having a bit nicer crust. Also substituted cole slaw for the fries. I'm not a fry fan but my wife says they are excellent. If we had more time at the beach I would have tried the soft shell crab sandwich, they looked excellent.

When I packed up and moved to California some four odd years ago, there are a few things I knew I would miss, East Coast beaches being one of them. Boardwalks, water that isn't freezing and most importantly, beach fries with Old Bay. DBs fries are a facet of beach life. Fried in delicious peanut oil, these suckers are guaranteed to give you a heart attack faster than that cute lifeguard in the stand. A large bucket is literally enough to feed a small army. If it's just 2, I highly recommend nothing bigger than a medium and if you're going solo, there's no need for anything bigger than a small. My cousin and I made the mistake of ordering a large and boy did we regret it 2 stomach aches later. Make sure to stop by the condiment bar and douse your fries in vinegar, salt and enough Old Bay to season a blue crab bushel. These fries will have you dreaming until your next beach vacation. DBs fries--until next summer.
(5)Ron R.
Been going there for years. BEST fries on the beach. You know the difference when you see them getting fresh potatoes delivered and Boardwalk fries up the street are getting theirs delivered from Sysco...frozen. Large menu. Try the scallops. Always fresh. Lightly fried and perfect.
(4)John Q.
Although I sent my girlfriend to the boardwalk to get us some cheese fries, I was not at all let down when she returned to the beach with DB fries instead. The hand-cut fries were delicious and perfectly salted. I later learned that they are fried in peanut oil which I am sure contributes to their tastiness. I can't speak to the service or atmosphere as I only experienced the fries and chicken fingers but man were they good. I'll definitely be returning to check out some of their other options (with a side of fries of course). From the sounds of the other reviews their fried seafood is good too. I'll post an update soon...
(4)Deborah N.
I stop here every year for grease. Good grease.
(5)kate w.
Best fries EVER. Back home from vacation and I'm craving them!
(5)Tom L.
I went here this evening & the place was being ran by two teenagers under the age of 18. I ordered the fish and chips. It was supposed to be three pieces of fish and fries. I got three pieces of fish that were very small about half of the size that I would've expected from a normal order of fish and chips. The fries were good. I absolutely will not be coming back to this place, ever!
(2)E M.
Thrashers may have the name and the nostalgia but if you're looking for great fries you can't go wrong with DBs!
(5)Es L.
Loved their fried oyster po'boys and their fried clam sandwiches!
(4)Linn C.
When I was there, it was only 2 young teenagers running the place. I was really impressed by their customer service and maturity! I can't comment on the fries since I didn't try them but their crab cake sandwich was fantastic! The counter could have definitely been cleaned up (salt spilled everywhere, spare napkins, etc, somewhat off-putting) but the food was great.
(5)John J.
Good fries - nothing to write home about. Better than boardwalk, not as good as Thrashers.
(3)Jenny K.
Absolutely delicious but insanely expensive.
(4)Grant E.
By far the best fry place out of many in Bethany Beach. DB's easily tops Boardwalk Fries and the rest of the competition with their big buckets of crispy fries...even Thrasher's!
(5)Dcgirl T.
Snacked here two days of my vacation. Had buffalo wings and fries one day and mozzarella sticks the next, Pretty standard, but decent. Not as good as Boardwalk though. Of course parking is terrible near any of the boardwalks along Coastal Hwy from 11am-11pm
(3)Bob B.
I eat at DB's every time I'm at the beach. Not only are their fries great, but a lot of the seafood is FRESH. Just ask for what's fresh today. The Wahoo is GREAT, I turned my entire family onto the Wahoo sandwich. The oysters are great, and the clam strips tasty. They will also do 50 cent refills on other vendor's soda cups. They even make their OWN cole slaw and brew their own tea. Great stuff!!!!
(5)Jason S.
This place is an all around great fry shack!
(5)Chow N.
Noting special about the fries here, nor the seafood. The fries are thin cut and fried once, I think. The beer battered cod lacked beer batter. The pricey chicken tenders didn't come with fries or chips. I wanted to try the fried oysters but didn't want to pay $9 for 7 oysters. The clam strips are frozen Save your money and find a nice restaurant.
(2)Alex H.
Simply put the best fries! I prefer mine extra cribeeeeee (extra crispy). With some vinegar, Old Bay, and a lil ket ket. The day boat scallops are on point. Get em pan seared not fried much much better. The chicken tenders are also solid. Definitely a BB favorite.
(5)Gail B.
I absolutely love their fried seafood. Especially the oysters! I make excuses so I can stop by there for lunch.
(5)Christy T.
Oh, DB. You are a special, special place. Oh, and you kick Thrasher's ass.
(5)Elliott P.
Not seafood. Great fries for walking on the boardwalk or a quick treat. They offer an array of topping from Cajun to Old Bay. They also have chicken fingers and stuff which isn't really worth buying, just stick to the basics, those delectable fries. A definite win over the Boardwalk Fries chain.
(5)Sherri H.
I think this is the place where you can also get fried clam strips, fried oysters, crab cakes - all the yummy fish from the Atlantic side of the USA. YUM YUM! Go and get it now before the BP oil slick moves that way and ruins it.
(5)Matt C.
Went here based on Yelp recommendations. The fries were good/great. I grew up on Thrashers and boycott Boardwalk fries on principle. Comparing DB's to Thrashers, I have to say they are a smaller fry but don't have tons of flavor. Be sure to add salt and vinegar. DBs - 4 stars. Thrashers - 5 stars.
(4)Rob C.
Awesome Fried Oyster Sandwich! Not overly crispy or greasy, the oysters were still soft and gooey on the inside. A great quick lunch and a short walk from the beach.
(4)C. W.
Fries, fries, fries. Fries everywhere. Fries that have been fried. Fries that are being fried. Fries lined up in baskets waiting to be fried. Lots and lots of fries. Very tasty too, put whatever you want on them. They're from the Five Guys school of fries, but a slightly thinner cut for more grease absorption. Delicious, great summer beach food.
(4)James S.
My family goes to Bethany Beach every year and we invariably hit up DB Fries daily for lunch. Here's the scenario. You walk into a tiny corner shack that is obscenely hot and order a bucket of fries. You get your fries and pour malt vinegar (trust me, its delicious) all over them. It's the best thing ever, perfect for the beach and the fries are beyond delicious. Maybe it's cause I've been eating them since I was in diapers but I can't imagine summer without these fries. They've added food in the last few years but I've never gotten anything else.
(5)M T.
Being in a bikini isn't conducive to eating fried food but that didn't stop me (or pretty much anyone else) from hitting DB Fries. Just off the boardwalk, it's in a tiny building with only room for a few people to stand inside so the rest of the people in line spill out onto the sidewalk. The fries are delicious. I added the vinegar and a bit of Old Bay they had at the counter. I also got the fried Wahoo filets for about $7 which were pretty hearty and not too heavily fried. A great spot for a quick and tasty lunch!
(5)Tommy L.
When this place is on, it's SOOO good. The chicken tenders can't be beat and the shrimp basket is great. We always eat at DB's when we come to Bethany Beach. However, during our last visit, the owner wasn't there. Two kids were behind the counter and they screwed up everything. The shrimp was WAY overcooked and cooked to a crisp. The fries were also limp and tasteless. So the moral of the story is definitely visit this place when you come to BB but turn around if you don't see any old guys behind the counter.
